Welcome to WorldShapers Ministry Degree Programme, a life-changing programme focusing on how to put your faith into action.
One of the striking things about this programme is the way it combines practical lectures with volunteering in the community as well as being involved in the work of New Horizons Christian Fellowship.
This year we will be offering a two year degree programme for the first time.
The training will appeal to potential and experienced:
- teachers/tutors
- church planters
- pastors
- missionaries
- project managers
- youth workers
- children’s workers
- church leaders
- people involved in faith-based organisations (FBOs) or non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
- others who are searching for their mission in life
You will be able to work towards a “Bachelor’s degree” or a “Master’s degree” depending on your background and life experience.
What is the programme all about?
Application, application, application. This degree programme is all about putting your learning and faith into action. It is not just about gaining new knowledge, but about how to bless others by using your talents, knowledge and experience to make a difference. The Bible tells us that “Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up” (1 Cor 8:1). We want you to experience the joy of serving your community. The poor deserve the best.
The academic course is built around these blocks:
- 50% Christian principles for life: Bible study methods, spiritual gifts and disciplines, books of the Bible
- 10% English studies: Literacy, communication skills, public speaking, essay writing and how to teach English for Speakers of Other Languages
- 10% ICT studies: graphics design, research, filmmaking, digital mixing
- 20% Teaching and learning: Facilitation, leading groups, how to teach, teaching techniques, work shadowing
- 10% Practical subjects: percussion, health, First Aid, arts/crafts, HIV/AIDS educator
Your practical training includes:
- supporting two charities on a weekly basis in their work to make a difference
- developing the work of New Horizons Christian Fellowship in Hemel Hempstead, UK
- pioneering and taking initiative to new small and bigger projects
Can I apply?
These are some of the requirements for applicants:
- You are passionate about church, the community and social justice
- You are hungry for learning and have a teachable spirit
- You work hard and are proactive in taking initiatives to pray, fast and do practical tasks to make a difference
- You have a good command of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening)
- You are a committed Christian and have been actively involved in a local church for at least three years
- You are able to study at university level
What will it cost me?
The fees are £4,500 per year.
You can apply for full sponsorship depending on your situation. We are looking for small groups of learners who would like to work with us to develop the ministry in the coming years. These learners will receive a full sponsorship for two years on the condition that they work for us for a further two years.
We are especially looking for people to help us:
- start a school, projects and churches in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India
- start churches and training in Cuba
- start churches and training in Palestine
- develop our Children’s Centre in Hemel Hempstead
- teach at our Ignite school in Hemel Hempstead for young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
