Young Parents Tutor and Outreach
WorldShapers Children’s Centre is looking for a new staff member who is passionate about supporting teenage parents/young parents and their children. We are especially interested in a new colleague who can help us organise and deliver different teaching programmes for the young parents to help them into further training, education and/or employment.
Presently we have contact with several groups of teenage mums who would like us to offer them weekly training sessions. This could lead to accredited AQA Awards.
Areas of responsibility:
- Organising and teaching courses for young parents. The parents have an interest in very different kinds of courses. You might be able to teach, “Face painting”, “First Aid for parents”, “Fun and fitness”, “Arts and crafts”, “Business start up”, “Brush up your English or Maths”, “Child/human development”, “Finding a job you will like”, “Making relationships work”, “Making money last longer”, “Surviving Christmas”, “Making memories”, “You and your health”.
- Organising and deliver great sessions for our partners; Pre-schools, holiday schemes, nurseries, childminders;
- Organising fun days for families;
- Organising courses for families;
- Supporting our Children’s Centre Manager in implementing the yearly development plan;
- Consulting with families and professionals;
- Administration;
- The job might involve offering a few courses for 13 – 16 year olds who are permanently excluded from school due to Emotional and Behaviour Difficulties (EBD).
Other involvement:
- Multi-agency work;
- Marketing;
- Writing reports;
- Monitoring;
- Implementing the Common Assessment Framework;
- Being a voice for the children and young people to partners and other professionals.
Salary: £24,000

Qualifications:
We do not require a specific qualification for this job, but it will be a requirement to work towards certain qualifications, if you want to teach or advice in parenting. This is a requirement for Sure Start Children’s Centres.

- Lots of energy and creativity;

- Thrive on challenges and deadlines;
- Is suitable to work with children and young people;
- Experience in working with children;
- Ability to communicate well to children and parents/carers;
- Ability to work well with partners and other professionals;

- Ability to work efficiently and focused;
- Is effective in setting boundaries to create a safe and respectful environment for all;
- Naturally proactive;
- Have good listening, reading, writing and speaking skills in English;
- Efficient, experienced and comfortable in using ICT, which will include Word, Outlook and Explorer;
- Good organisational skills;
- Enjoy working in a diverse and hectic environment;
- A current driving license;
Desirable for the post:
- Experience in working in a Christian charity;

Parenting Tutor and Outreach (Dads)
WorldShapers Children’s Centre is looking for a new staff member who is passionate about giving families some great experiences together. We are especially looking for a person who can be a role model for dads and their children.
Areas of responsibility:
- Organising and teaching parenting courses for dads. This could include courses in “The joy of being a new parent”, “What’s the role of dads?” “Let’s have some fun”, “Helping children learn and have fun”, “Learning through play”, “Dealing with tantrums”, “Conflict resolution”, “Making memories”, “Child theology”, etc.
- Organising and teaching courses for dads in prison;
- Organising and deliver, for instance, “Forest schools”, “Sport schools”, “Scouting schools” for our partners; Pre-schools, holiday schemes, nurseries, childminders;
- Organising fun days for families;
- Organising courses for families;
- Supporting our Children’s Centre Manager in implementing the yearly development plan;
- Consulting with families and professionals;
- Administration;
